Named mobs are still despawning after all of these years. In particular, polar bears despawn even when attached to a lead. This is an old and irritating problem and needs to be fixed.

Absolutely not resolved. Reopen. Stop removing bug reports that call this issue out in detail, like mine. This has been an issue for years, regardless of consistency, and has recently worsened.
