Though my server is joinable from my external IP via my PC my son cannot join on his switch. When he searches my name it says I'm playing Minecraft, if I send him an invite he doesn't receive it. For all intents and purposes, the server doesn't exist. However, he can join our realm with no problems.

Same for me for Bedrock Server on Windows Version 1.17.11.01.
Unable to connect to world error. Nothing on the server console.
Switch is on 1.17.11
The switch doesn't support third party BDS connectivity. You have to trick the "featured" realms by redirecting the DNS of your Switch, to a hostname of a featured server, to the IP address of your BDS.
Yes, we know that you have to spoof lifeboat or some other realm into your private bedrock server. This used to work but the 1.17.11 patch broke it.
Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.
The report you have submitted is working as intended: Acording to Minecraft Servers FAQ Switch Joining dedicated servers is not supported.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

I thought Bedrock was supposed to be cross platform. This is really "working as intended"? This issue was opened on 2021-8-18 the FAQ (Last Updated - 2021-10-15 11:16:22 UTC) was updated after I opened this ticket. Please don't try to imply this is a case of my not reading the FAQ as that is intentionally dishonest and shameful.
