When you wanted to join a server that updated to 1.17.40, you still cannot join it and said Outdated Server! IDK what's happening but I really want to join my server.

You need to update your server by going to the same site you went to download it originally and downloading the most recent version. You then need to copy the files over into the directory you use for your Minecraft server. Make sure you backup your world files and databases.
