Running bedrock server blocked by Windows defender

In all versions starting the bedrock_server.exe leads to the pop-up:

Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

Normally this has 2 buttons: Don't run and Run anyway (after clicking more info).

Since version 1.17.40 I do not see the 'run anyway' button anymore.

Mojang should provide Extended Validation (EV) Code Signing Certificate with the server to avoid these issues.

Running on HP Elitebook, Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2:

Edition Windows 10 EnterpriseEdition Windows 10 Enterprise

Version 20H2

Installed on ‎12-‎5-‎2021

OS build 19042.1237

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

Windows shows this popup when trying to run bedrock_server.exe

Make sure to disable your Anti-Virus while playing the game OR put the game as whitelisted on your Anti-Virus software. Windows Defender is connected with anti-virus programs.

I 'manually' unblocked it like below. This is in IMHO not a proper way. A professional SW development organization like Mojang should sign their deliverables to avoid this kind of pop-ups. Especially since they're part of Microsoft, the just should have these Extended Validation certificates for signing.

Have you tried whitelisting the bedrock_server.exe into your Windows Firewall?
These are the instructions:

  1. Select the “*Start*” button, then type “*firewall*“.

  2. Select the “*Windows Defender Firewall*” option.

  3. Choose the “*Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall*” option in the left pane.

  4. Unchecking the box to the left of the application name disallows it from accessing network resources, while checking it allows access. You can also check the boxes to the right of the name labeled “Private” or “Public” to allow and disallow the app on private or public networks respectively.

  5. If the program you wish to block or unblock is not listed, you can click the “*Allow another app…*” button to add it. Choose the application in the list and select “*Add*“. If the program is not in this list, use the “*Browse…*” button to select the program file manually.

I also recommend making a post what you have said on the correct channel here: feedback.minecraft.net so that Mojang can notice it as this site is mainly for tracking bugs only.
