Darkness and Night Vision effect create “shroom trip” effect with light

If you have the Darkness effect and Night Vision effect active at the same time, there is this strange infrared-like shroom trip effect that pulses in synchronization with the darkness effect. It is most unique and noticeable when looking at a light source, but it does affect the entire world, but only visually. I dropped nether stars to show how it looks and visually affects dropped items.
