When placing buttons, they do not face the direction in which they are placed.
On walls you can rotate buttons, but you can't rotate buttons on ceilings or floors, they only face one direction.
This was a bug in 2019 and was fixed, but it is now it is here again.

This is happening on single player worlds (survival and creative) as far as I'm aware. Potentially also multiplayer but I have not tried yet. I am using a laptop.
