Crops can grow on dry farmlands.
As soon as you make a farmland without water source nearby, it turns into dirt. Nevertheless, should you place a crop before it can turn into dirt, it will grow.
As shown in the picture, i can genuinely say there is no water source nearby.
Environment
Plants should be able to grow only on moist farmland (water source within 4 blocks)
