This is not a bug it’s a question

I know I’m going to get a comment saying this is for bugs only but I don’t know where to ask questions, I’ve tried feedback.minecraft.net but that seems like it’s only for ideas, so that’s why I’m asking here. If an update comes out, will my server update automatically, or will I need to install a new one and transfer the level data over (which is not a problem for me, but it’s probably a problem for people who don’t know how to use game files). If you have the answer please tell me whenever you can, if not, can you tell me where to ask the question?
