Can't prevent villager despawns. Have attempted to name, max out trading level, create new dwellings (7x7 free space inside, 2 villagers per house) with beds to sleep in (attuned to the proper villagers) and adequate light levels and the villagers will still despawn in approximately 48 hours real time.
