Bow in offhand

What I expected to happen was seeing another Minecraft player drawing a bow while it is in his offhand. At least see an arrow in the bow.
What actually happened is nothing. Nothing happened, as the bow had the regular non-drawn texture.
How to reproduce this bug?
1. Go on multiplayer with minimum 2 players
2. Let one player have a bow in his offhand
3. Make the player draw the bow
4. Press F5 twice/ look at him using the second player.
