Looks like the input there is restricted, you can for example also not enter a colon (":") or a slash ("/"), however in data mode you can

I rather meant that this might be related or partwise the reason. It is probably intended that you cannot use these characters because they cannot be used in file names but maybe how it is determined whether or not a key press writes a letter or does something is not correctly done for this text field

I have windows 7 and can confirm it still in 16w21b.

Not being able to navigate with arrows and characters '.' and '\' unusble for the name fields of Corner, Save and Load structure blocks confirmed on Win10 for version 1.10
