[MC-10391] Monster Spawners can suffocate mobs

Mobs spawned with a Monster Spawner in their head will suffocate despite the Monster Spawner being transparent.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make a new Creative world.
2. Give yourself a Monster Spawner like so: " /give <player> 52".
3. Give yourself a Witch spawn egg.
4. Place the spawner one block above the ground.
5. Spawn a Witch under the Monster Spawner and notice it is taking damage.

Hmm. As i thought, Mob Spawners are blocks and can suffocate mobs.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

That is because a mob spawner is only visually transparent, so it is still treated as a solid block.
