I have got back on the world, it loaded correctly, so I guess that it was to do with me trying to close Minecraft when generating the world. All I have to show for the error is the log, but I have the seed which I think will not be useful:
6455076524068966402.
When following my steps, it seems I cannot reproduce the error anymore, so creating a world is of little use.

I have added in the level.dat and level.dat_old
