Minecraft web browser

In the past, when clicking a weblink in the chat screen, it would open your default web browser to the given url. Now it seems to open some javascript web browser, which always ends up crashing minecraft on my computer. This is unwanted. I want it to open in my default browser like it use to. What settings can I enable or disable to accomplish this, or will this be fixed in a future version?
