I've used search bar and cannot find this.
When taking away the trunk of a tree and you leave it (with leaves exposed directly to sunlight) the leaves disappear as you would expect. However, if you take away the trunk of a tree under another tree (ie a low lying one in the jungle) and there are leaves covering the light over the lower leaves, the leaves underneath do not disappear, no matter how many nearby trunks you take away. Any questions just ask.

While he also said he removed nearby trunks away, I can not reproduce. All leaves no matter where, are slowly disappearing as long as there is no wood blocks nearby. And just for the kicks, I removed trunks from bottom up (leaving only the top wood block), and leaves are going away from below, still having leaves above those disappearing leaves blocks.
Definitely needs crash report and seed+settings+location and specific steps to reproduce. Otherwise indeed "WAI"/can not reproduce.
@ Tails- That's useful to know, I didn't know about that so thanks.
@ Markku- Ok, I only spotted this by playing survival on a server only and forgot to try it on single-player using both modes. I tried it in creative and I agree, I can't reproduce but it's occurring on the server I'm playing on (ts3.jl2579.net) which is the combined server of 'James' and 'Cube' and is in the 'harmony world' in survival mode. There isn't any crash report that I can send or I don't know how to get one, how do I retrieve the seed, settings and location? Ie what info do you need? Because it's on a server I may not be able to retrieve the seed of the world.
From the Minecraft Wiki: "Leaves from trees spontaneously decay (disappear) randomly when not connected to a wood (log) block by other leaf blocks, with a maximum distance of 4 blocks."
Since you say leaves don`t decay under another tree it`s highly likely those are connected to wood blocks.
