What I expected to happen was...:

The redstone signal above should be transferred through the block and carried on by the repeater.
Below:
As soon as the redstone block is destroyed, the repeater should turn off.
What actually happened was...:
Above:
Instead of taking the redstone output from the block, the repeater has not been powered.
Below:
When the redstone block is destroyed, the redstone repeater is still on.
Steps to Reproduce:
Above:
1. place a repeater
2. place the stone block
3. place a repeater behind the stone
4. place the redstone block
-> the repeater behind the stone won't be updated
Below:
1. place the redstone block
2. place a repeater
3. place the stone block
4. place a repeater behind the stone
-> the repeater behind the stone will be updated
5. destroy the redstone block
-> the repeater behind the stone won't be updated
