When casting a line in the water and then leaving the game and logging back in, your line will be reeled in, but fish will still try to go after an invisible bobber in the water. May only work on multiplayer servers, I haven't tested it in singleplayer.

I was playing on snap.viper.works when the bug happened. The server restarted, and the bug was gone. I think this bug does not occur in singleplayer because the internal server stops when you exit the world.

Can confirm for 16w43a multiplayer. It doesn't seem to occur on singleplayer. After rejoining the game, casting the rod, and then switching to a different hotbar slot or dropping the fishing rod appears to cause the line and bobber texture to float in midair.
