A world that has been on my computer was deleted with no warning. I didn't update the game, and the last time I played it I saved the world properly. Is there a way to recover it?

A world may not appear in the saves list if it was improperly saved (e.g. the game unexpectedly closed, or the computer crashed), if there is an issue with your computer's hard drive or file system, or if you are attempting to access it from another computer.
Assuming you aren't using a different computer, check to see if the world is located in the .minecraft/saves folder (in the launcher click Edit Profile -> Open Game Dir.).
