broken dispenser

when trying to dispense water out of a dispenser, the dispenser pulses on and off for a second and then stops(water isn't dispensed).This occurs when using all types of redstones type switches(e.g. buttons leavers and pressure plates),the problem occurs for both when dispensers are facing up(or down) and facing outwards. Apologies if this has already been reported
