Double chests spanning a chunk border can disappear visually

First find a chunk border. Set up chests like so. Place a double chest spanning the chunk border. Leaving a one block gap, place a double chest facing the first. At one end, leave a one block gap with the chunk border, and place a single chest, facing into the U shape. You will have a shape of chests the same as the shape of the iron in the crafting table when making a hopper. See the first attached image.

Stand close to the chests, so the player is within one chunk. Look at the single chest, and slowly move the cursor over it. At some cursor position, the double chests will all de-render.

See the second two screenshots, taken after a small cursor movement.

Confirmed. This does not occur because you're looking at another chest. This happens if you're in the chunk east or south of the chunk border. The chests only disappear when your head is in one of two specific angles which depend on your exact position and your FOV.

I updated the summary accordingly.
