"InternalException: java.lang.NullPointerException"

After the recent Minecraft update to the new launcher, we can't play any multiuser games on servers no more. We receive this error message.

"InternalException: java.lang.NullPointerException"

We have not spent several hours trying to find a solution, in vain. That is not what you expect you'd have to do when you buy a product like this.
