The first time I've made a map in a while, I wandered far out of the location before I really looked at it, and when I did I was shocked to see the player icon wasn't there. No dot around the outside to guide me back, and I don't think I saw the player icon on the map when I created it either come to think of it; although I thought nothing of it at the time.
I reloged my game first, quit the launcher and restarted everything next. The phenomenon was persistent. I attached some screenshots showing the icon is missing on the map in both main and off hands.
Sorry if this is duplicated by the way. I did search first, it just seems like every time I report a bug it was already listed under a term I didn't think of ~sorry TAT

Unfortunately no. I go through a lot of those hardcore worlds you see, and they just go in the trash bin.
What would you like me to do to reproduce the bug? Just make a new world, in hardcore, make a map & move off it to confirm? I could attach that as a zip if that'd do the trick ^ _ ^ Screenshots too, so you see what I see.
Let me know.
Yes any world with a map on which the icon is not visible anymore (and remains invisible after reloading the world) would be great. Additionally maybe a short video showing what exactly you do and when the icon becomes invisible would be great as well.
Hey. Sorry this took so long, my available Minecraft time is limited XD
Anyhow, in summery: I created a new hardcore world just like my other game, gathered everything needed to test this [sugar farm & anvil included], traveled to roughly the same world location as the bug had happened in the other hardcore world, made a map and replicated what I did with my inventory and travel as closely as I could in the moments following it's population, and when I examined the map the dot had returned.
I'm sorry if I've wasted your time here, but you can see the screenys from before, and for what it's worth I kinda wasted my time too; no shortcuts in a hardcore game.
I wasn't able to take a video cuz my computer was excavated from an ancient geological striatum and OBS doesn't like Minecraft for some reason, but I did document the whole thing with a book & quill in-game and screenshots; though that seems like a bit of a waste now. But as a result I do have a hardcore world with all the stuff you'd need to test this extensively sitting on my computer now, so if this bug turns into a thing for other people it could be useful I suppose :b
Anyhow, sorry again. I've not reported too many bugs and I didn't know the world save could be useful to you, afraid I only just learned to always take screenshots XD But thanks for giving it your attention, maps are pretty key to how I play the game and if this bug was widespread it would seriously...bug me X3
Can you please attach your world folder as a zip file?
