Recently that I purchases a new computer and decided to install minecraft, I installed using the installer downloaded directly from minecraft.net website. Three days ago I was able to normally join a server. Now I noticed that the game after running the launcher has the LWJGL Icon (Picture).
When I started to see this icon, I would get "bad login" when running 1.6.4 forge mod loader, and "end of steam" when using minecraft vanilla 1.9.2. I have removed all mods and used a clean minecraft installation and clean %appdata%/.minecraft directory. I also have no sound.
Someone in minecraftforum.net did say that this might be caused by minecraft not being able to download resources (sound and the crafting table icon) from minecraft.net server, and this could be caused by cracked games or mods, but I am not using a cracked launcher nor mods, i do have paid minecraft.
This is MCL-6280 - it's a bug with the new launcher not handling resources for versions using the
legacy
index. There is a workaround in that ticket.Although, you shouldn't be getting a broken icon in 1.9.2 (as it uses a current index). You also shouldn't be getting end of stream from that. 1.9.2 itself isn't supported anymore, but issues with launching it are, so if you can consistently reproduce that behavior with the new launcher (and it isn't just a historical anecdote) and it doesn't happen with the old launcher, create an MCL ticket with more info.
