Crash on torch placement

I have experienced multiple crashes while placing torches. Each time, I was placing the torch to break a fluid source block. This has happened while breaking both water and lava source block. I think it has happened only when placing the torch above the player's head.

The error message is as follows:

The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot set property avz{name=facing, clazz=class ei, values=[up, north, south, west, east]} to down on block minecraft:torch, it is not an allowed value
