this horrible bug has completely ruined crafting. The "recipe book" is not working, and its horrible. Its supposed be there but it wont work

It's because you're using a resource pack and unless it is updated with the new GUI for the crafting book it won't work as expected. Just turn off the resource pack and it should appear.
