Parrots vanish when in boats

Parrots would appear to vanish when you get in a boat with your parrot in it. I have tested it twice with two different parrots. I was using an oak boat, if that affects anything. This occurs on both multiplayer and singleplayer. I assume this occurs because the parrot attempts to get on your shoulder while in the boat, but when I jumped out of the boat the parrot did not reappear.
