Why does my game crash creating/trying to join (single or multi) a game in 1.10+?

Everything goes as normal, until I try to enter a world. Typically, I create a new world, and everything's normal, with the 'Building Terrain' message and all that. Once I enter the world, it looks like I'm just in a dark place, and can't see anything. I get a message from my computer saying 'Windows is trying to find a solution' with a loading bar. Then, another message pops up and says 'Windows could not find a solution', and I have no other choice but to close the program. It takes me back to the launching screen, with the Mojang message 'An unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
