Minecraft compatibility with Java?

As soon as the Mojang symbol disappears and the menu appears, the game crashes. Java Platform SE Binary has stopped working is the message I get after each crash. Sometimes, I can get past the menu and play for about 20 minutes, but then it crashes and I get that same message. I am using unmodified, resource pack free, Minecraft 1.12 on a Windows 10 Dell desktop computer that I just bought last week. I made sure I am using the version of Java needed for 1.12. All my video settings in game are set very low. I tried playing in vanilla 1.11.2 as well and got the same Java issue. The error log attached below says something about Minidumps.
