Melon blocks can no longer be crafted back into melon slices in 1.12 on Minecraft PC edition.

Using linux mint 17.2, I cannot craft melon blocks back into melons in minecraft 1.12 for the PC version.

You can craft slices back into melons, but you need to break melons in order to get the slices. This is intended.
