Glass does not support translucent textures

The Bug

The glass block does not support the alpha channel.

Now that the engine supports translucent textures in stained glass, clear glass should do this as well. It currently hinders resource packs, and causes strange behavior in mipmapping since the alpha value adjacent pixels can't be averaged together correctly.

To Reproduce

  1. Download and enable the resource pack:

[media]
  1. Put down a glass block.

Expected Behavior

It should look like blue stained glass, with the transparency.

Observed Behavior

It's solid blue.

Reopened and leave to Mojang's decision as some other issues about transparency support in texture were considered valid.

Invalid but yet fixed? … ._.

Yes. Initially glass was cutout and not translucent. When it was not mipmapped not supporting translucency granted the best performance and supporting it did not have any benefits for Vanilla. So it was a Resource Pack feature request. After it became mipmapped, making it translucent instead of cutout actually makes the transitions between mimpap levels much smoother even for vanilla case. So it was implicitly retriaged and fixed.
