Windows 10 window scaling issue

I am using a 4k monitor and therefore need my app and text scaling to be at 200% but when i open minecraft, the game displays at 200% the size making it akin to 8k resolution. the only way i can play minecraft now is to turn my scaling in the windows settings down to 100%. only then does minecraft display in the correct dimensions.
