Hostile mobs spawning in light >7 at bedrock level.

Prior to 1.5 mobs were not spawning in my mines where all blocks have a light level of 8+. Since the update mobs are now spawning in these mines. The behavior is similar to void fog reducing light levels in Alpha 1.2. I have found 3 hostile mobs (2 creepers, 1 skeleton) in ~ 1.5 hours of gameplay.

Hm this is unusual. I will check up on this. This may be a rare case of a glitch that is unfixable, but I don't know. Could you post screen shots and supply and info if you have a modded jar or not?

Seeing as your torches are placed on the wall and not on the ground I would say you misread the block light value in debug to display the value for the ground not the head hight.

I don't use any mods, so I assume my jar is un-modded. Not sure how I can prove the light level is >7 everywhere, but I walked the entire level where mobs are spawning looking for any torches endermen might have moved and verifying that I had at least a BL of 8 everywhere. Any chance a copy of the world might fix my issue?

Thanks for the tip Tails. If I understand you correctly, the debug value shown is for the head level light, not the light level of the block I'm standing on?

There it is: BL of 8 on head level means 7 on ground level since torches are placed on the wall.
