Quiet "screeching" sound coming from headphones...

I recently noticed that Minecraft for me is creating a constant "mosquito" noise in the right channel of my headphones. This is not a tech problem, as nothing is wrong with my headphones. I've used different headphones, earbuds, even speakers, and it still persists. Strangely, the pitch of the noise depends on the pitch (up/down) of my view and what menu I'm in. Looking completely up produces an "aaah" pitch, looking completely down produces an "eeeh" pitch, and looking straight forward produces an "iiiiih" pitch. The I've only noticed it recently and it's starting to annoy me. Disabling sounds entirely does not seem to affect the noise. Each menu option I go into, starting from pausing, lowers the pitch a bit. The noise stops completely in the title screen. This is really starting to annoy me, and I really don't know what could be causing it. I tested this in vanilla, vanilla + optifine, modded, modded + optifine, and even old versions of the game. Again, does not affect any other programs. Just Minecraft.

Forced crash of vanilla version 1.12.2, in case there might be something in there that could help

Did you try updating your audio drivers? Also could you please check if this issue is present in the latest snapshot 18w01a?

So as of reading your comment, I tested this in the latest snapshot. The buzzing persisted. I've also noticed that the same pitch thing happens when an in-game sound is played, but that is only specific to the new snapshot. Further curious, I tested explosions, breaking blocks, mob noises, juke boxes, etc.. I've even tried to update all drivers, but they were all up to date. My headphones have an independent volume slider, so I tried lowering that and increasing my computer's volume. The buzzing noise is gone, but a similar pitch shift in 18w01a is still present. Rotation in not only pitch but also yaw noticeably distorts sound pitch except for music (since music is not played from direction). This does not occur between versions for me, and is something completely new. Try igniting a creeper or TNT and quickly looking in different directions in 1.12.2, then repeat the same process in 18w01a. If it's different for you, it may be a problem on my end and not Minecraft's. I nearly thought my headphones were broken because of that.

TL;DR Fixed the buzzing sound, but 18w01a's sound feels very strange and "like being in a jar" compared to 1.12.2

Since it persists with sounds disabled and the sound disappears when increasing the computer's volume I think this may be related to your hardware. Something in your computer is probably causing interference in the sound circuitry. It's probably not related to Minecraft itself, but some versions just happen to create the exact right conditions for it to happen. Try using another audio port when available, or try a bluetooth or USB headset/speaker when possible. If it is due to interference then they shouldn't have that sound since they use digital signals.
