Inexplicable hopper behavior, items go past a particular hopper under very specific circumstances

Is this singleplayer or multiplayer? If multiplayer, can you please force a crash report by holding F3+C for 10 seconds while ingame and then attach that report (in .minecraft/crash-reports) to this ticket?

It's single player
