[MC-126229] Unable to light portal with lava and fire

i used to be able to light a portal with lava and wood.
I have not been able to do so with the snapshot.
The configuration is as follows.
Lava not shown.
Two block empty space below wood in front portal frame. Lava flows into this hol

from top (note: below the wood is a 1 deep hole for lava to flow into

I'm not sure but I think the wood is not igniting in this configuration.
Could it be a biome thing? I've only tried in desert and savanna so far. Still looking for another lava pool.

I also tried it by lighting the wood on fire. The portal didn't light after a few tried.

FWIW, I was able to light the portal using a flint&steel on the upper inside obsidian.

I just tested this in 18w08b and got it to working. For testing I used wood, flint and steel.
For the process to happen faster i used the command

/gamerule randomTickSpeed 5000

Therefore cannot confirm.

Can you do it with lava?
The logs did not ignite for me.

Works fine using planks + fire. Lava currently doesn't spread fire (MC-124521).
