Building a conventional water and lava mob trap at a zombie spawner results in drowned forming as a result of very shallow water contact. Result is few or no normal zombie only drops: armour, carrot, potatoes. This is mainly a problem if your needing the armour. This also effects water flow dark rooms in void worlds.
We need some creative way to either delay the transition or get the drops on transition or turn them back by some means.

I assume you knew it negates drowning traps but then Witches beat them anyway. I'm talking about basic flow traps, water mob elevators and some drop traps.
I will attach pictures soon.
Of course I know how mob grinders work, but your report does not make it clear what your actual issue is.
