Client crash when enlarging maps

What I expected to happen was...:
Enlarge map to view more of my environment

What actually happened was...:
Client Crashed

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put empty map into crafting table center slot
2. Used new even stack feature to evenly spread 2 stacks of paper around map
3. When the new map was produced then I placed it directly into the center of the crafting table crafting slots
4. I did not place it in my inventory first
5. Attempted to pull 2nd map from created item slot and client crashed
