[MC-12810] Can't pause ingame

In both game modes, I cannot pause the game with esc but I could by opening task manager with ctrl-alt-del.

I can use the inventory but I can't pause the game. Sometimes when deleting everything in .minecraft except for saves, texture packs, and screenshots.

I am sorry, my image editor (photoshop) caught my esc key, it is working now, but now I know not to use minecraft while photoshop is active. :/

Do you have a program like photoshop open? Whenever I have photoshop running esc doesn't work in minecraft.

I find this strange. i run photoshop while playing, and this never happens.
