I try and mine with any tool doesn't matter the type. When you mine one block with the tool it completely just doesn't want to work. Can't mine anymore after mining that one block.

Yep. This effects me too. Started a new world, mined one block okay, then no more.. can't mine at all, but using any other block to mine works..
