Crafting crash

Whenever I try to craft a kelp block, nothing shows up in the crafting table menu output, so I figured that maybe I had the recipe wrong, and I checked the recipe for the block, and the game crashed. I opened up the game again, and tried using the recipe book again for a different item. This time it was a conduit. However, the game crashed again. Perhaps it's a bug related to new crafting recipes? I don't know.
