Anvils can enchant items without using experience

So on an anvil, put a sword in the first spot, and enchanting booking on the second spot. If you have no experience the experience cost will show up in red. Place your mouse over the end product and press "Q". The enchanted weapon will drop without the experience cost.

The same thing occurs for repairing weapons as well.
