After most recent Minecraft launcher update; Ubuntu 1804 machine will not connect to Minecraft servers.
Failed to connect to the server
Failed to login: The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance.
Tested the following: (all able to connect to the server)
Ubuntu 1804 on a different machine: Works
Ubuntu 1804 on a VM on the affected machine: Works
Windows 8.1 Pro: Works
Windows 10 Pro: Works
Mac High Sierra: Works
Ubuntu 1604 crouton on Chromebox: Works
On affected machine: (firewall is disabled)
Reinstalled via SNAP: Error - Failed to connect to the server
Installed via Minecraft.deb: Error - Failed to connect to the server
Extracted and ran Minecraft.tar.gz: Error - Failed to connect to the server
Used older Minecraft.jar: Error - Failed to connect to the server

Agon; Installing a third party app is not a resolution nor is my trouble ticket a platform to advertise your YouTube channel.
