gravity affected blocks and carpet / cake / flower like blocks floating

When gravity affected blocks and blocks that break when blocks under them are removed (carpet, cake, snow, etc.), if placed over a sticky piston the block won't fall / break and float in the air until updated by another block. Cake still floats in the air when updated by a block.
