Game crashes when monitor is off with error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Unexpected error

In two instances so far about 10 minutes after the screen saver starts the game crashes and reports "error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Unexpected error." This is similar to MC-134282 but distinct because the crash doesn't happen when the screen is turned back on. The crash occurs while the monitor is off.

The description is exactly the same for both:
