Chat input resets

When typing in the chat box it will sometimes start randomly resetting all the input back to nothing and instead of deleting single characters entire words when deleting. I've been unable to pinpoint what the trigger of it happening is but normally when switching screens (switching to a different desktop in OSX) and back sometimes fixes the issue. I found consistency in every time it has happened that some letters or patterns of would reset the chat input. Without fail trying to say "minecraft" would reset on a for example. But if I were to start with a and just say "aft" the input would not get reset.
