New bamboo terrain generation

I don't think this is how it is supposed to work. There is random bamboo popping out in the jungle - singular bamboos with no friends. There is like 5 in the same location with a good 10 block distance apart. No podzol, They cut right through the jungle leaves and it doesn't say bamboo forest when im standing right on top of them. Is that normal? Sorry I didn't follow the instructions but.. how can i follow them in this case?
