Saplings don't grow up

unfortunately, I do not have any server to play on that runs 18w43c, so I cant test what you are looking for. But have you tried to grow a sapling in an offline word/single player world? If it is not an issue there, we can get a better look on where the bug is located. this will help the devs alot, as they do not need to dig around so much, but just go to one exact location where the bug is located

in single player , only the dark oak sapling don't grow up, on the server any sapling don't grow up, but wheat and other foods grow up perfectly

seems that this report is about the same issue, where ticks is not working propely on servers, lan worlds. the ticks can have something with why your trees is not growing.

I tried to grow a dark oak sapling, and it did not work, but if you try to grow them as a group of four, as they do in the wild (minecraft world) it will grow. did you grow one single dark oak tree or as a group of four in a square? only the group of four in a square will work, not one single sapling

do you mean OS as in Operating system? If so, I will say no, linux shoud work fine, if you are using the normal edition of minecraft, fitted to Linux, and the java edition shoud not matter aswell. if you could play minecraft normaly before the snapshot on all the versions (the versions after Linux minecraft were introduced) i should not be a problem

No problem my fellow minecrafter! It is my pleasure to be able to be to any help! We get to hope that the devs sees this report and can take action to fix this in the next update/snapshot. But one thing I hope you can answear, did the problems on the server get fixed, or just the single player world? Only the singleplayer world right?

I created the server with a random world and without any plugins, and the single player is the only one where saplings grow up, except for the single dark oak one

What I ment with java editions, is that it is diffrent versions of minecraft, to diffrent uses and platforms, for linux visit https://minecraft.net/en-us/download/alternative/
