Nether Portal is not pierced by arrows

When shooting a Nether portal with an arrow the arrows stay floating in mid air, stuck to the portal opening as opposed of just piercing through it. It stops arrows completely and if shot from a close enough distance the arrows clip through the block and loses the model, but the hitbox is still present, I want to believe this is a bug because in the windows 10 version of the game, the Nether portal is able to be pierced by arrows.
