When you run a powered comparator into a sideways repeater you begin to see a strange bedrock textured strip where the tick notch should be.

A repeater or comparator pointing into a repeater causes the repeater to be locked. Note that for a while, comparators didn't cause it to render as locked; see MC-9194.
