i opened minecraft to test out the new map features, but i realized that i had run into a bug, i create a creative world and use two maps, each on a different side to compare the normal one before upgrading it, but then when i looked into the other map i had which i hadn't modified, i realized that it no longer works even when i am standing on an obvious point marked on the map, the pointer which indicates where my character is will not move no matter which direction i head into
however the other map was working perfectly

I have experienced this issue too. Is there a way to fix this?
Update: I saved and quit and then reentered my world and now the map is working

It does not, the criteria I saw for MC-99189, and here is why I did not meet that critera.

My map is updating, but I have reloaded the world and in MC-99189 it says that may fix it.
The issue I am having is better described by this bug, after making a map, my player icon (the white directional on the map) is not present and reloading the world does not fix the issue.

Mine is missing completely.

So I think I have a similar issue(I don’t 100% understand what he’s saying) except nothing I do seems to get rid of the issue. I am on ps4 bedrock downloaded version of mc. When I use a map it works normally until I walk out of the map borders, it’s resets my locator or arrow to the center or slightly off center and any direction I move it only moves vertically on the map, but shows me where I’m facing. This is problematic because if I’m outside of the map but it shows me inside of the map I cannot find my way back to the original maps location. It seems to be completely random too. The first map you load into always does it but afterwards only some other map areas do it. And if I create a new map for that location it’ll still do it. But I’d I load the same seed as a new world they may not. This is not game breaking but EXTREMELY annoying and makes it so I have to set up a system to make sure I don’t get lost.
Does MC-99189 describe the problem?
Mainly:
Does this only happen for the first map created in a world?
Does the map work properly again when you reopen the world?
